Time For Change

Isn't always time for change. I mean, think about how much has changed in the past month for you. You prolly made some new homies, some people that changed your life that you never thought you would have ever met. The past month has been straight cray cray. Well, maybe month in a half. But still. I mean, my road trip out of the blue for starters with Mason + Ben, then being on 'summer vacation' for the rest of the time after that. I mean I wake up and go to the pool EVERY DAY it seems. But now that its August and the heat is winding down, its time for another change. School starts in 2 weeks for most of us, and we will all part ways and meet up again at Christmas break, or if we were never that good of friends until next summer.

As for this picture dealing with change, how do you feel about Kat Von D's new hair? She is beautiful no matter what she does. But it took me a solid second to register who it was, but its still amazing.

I guess what we all now need to do is embrace the change we are all facing and run with it.

Everybody Else

This is probably going to be another post about something you've read about on here. Everybody Else. My main goal is to get these guys to come play a show at SLCC. I know you would come, just for the fact that if I like them, then by default they are awesome. It almost seems kind of weird I'm giving so much praise to 3 dudes in a band who kind of sing love songs, but, thats what all songs are about when it comes down to it. Right? Well, read this review and be amazed. Or check out their space on the internet. http://www.myspace.com/everybodyelse

An L.A.-based trio named for a Kinks B-side, Everybody Else, owe much to the harmonies and economical songwriting of the sixties, but they draw just as much on more modern music. Meat Market grooves like Outkast but has the screaming, bluesy vocals of Little Richard or the Animals. Say Goodbye combines an electroclash beat and new wave guitars with Elvis Costello-style lead vocals and a three part harmony reminiscent of the Beach Boys. The common thread is infuriatingly catchy songs and minimalist, Dancey arrangements that sound both retro and modern at the same time. The lyrics are full of concrete images, and are often more melancholy than the music they accompany. Over the fuzzed-out disco of In Memoriam are words about mourning the memories of lost love: I still see the blue, sunken barge/ down by the shore and I/ can taste the blackberry juice on our fingers/ But theres an echo of careless, callow footsteps/ that run by so quickly. Listeners are left in that magical place where we dont really know what we are feeling, but its giving us chills.

Their debut album, "Everybody Else," was produced Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Howl) and captures the spirit of their electrifying live show, marked by an energy that always seems to teeter on the edge of chaos without ever falling apart. The album is out everywhere in the United States, and has just been released in Japan and Korea. An all-acoustic version of the record, entitled "1 1/2," was released in April 2008, and an outtake EP, "Gold Noise," was released in October, 2008. The band are currently in the studio, working on a new album.

Buzzin'

As summer is just around the corner, aside from this freezing/raining/cold weather we are experiencing in Utah, Music is getting heard... I remember it was probably around my 2nd or 3rd post I ever did on the blog back in October and it was Shwayze, Cisco & Skeet performing... To me they were already big and big things were happening. Now, They are all over the radio, having interviews right and left, and people are finally getting the good news about SHWAYZE.... Finally, people will know who I'm talking about, I really have been waiting what seemed like forever for these guys to make things happen, to do work, and its all goin down as we speak. Along those same lines, I remember telling you about Katy Perry and how dope she is, her first single 'ur so gay' was a hit, but not as big as what is being played right now, 'i kissed a girl'... that song is blowin' up!... The best part about this whole thing is the fact that both of them will be on warped tour... rap and pop music, on a generally all punk/rock scene... this will be like the best of 2 worlds this summer.. I know it. Katy Perry's album 'one of the boys' is being released next week and shwayze's self titled album a little short of a month later will be released to... Go pick em up, enjoy and remember, you heard from me how good/talented these people really are...

Around the middle of the summer, the Shwayze reality show will be airing on MTV, make sure you check that out... If it was anthing like Cisco/Whitestarr's 'the rock life' I'm sure it will be all about the good times to be had by all in the promised land of LA and Malibu and the pleasures of being treated like a rockstar/celeb.

Warped Tour will also have, The Color Fred, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, and mucho mas...

This Weekend...

... and I don't live in LA, and I work, and my sumer is ruined cause someone put me on the schedule to work June 28, warped tour, so that means I won't be going. If you wanna know how I really feel, just ask me.... and you'll regret it later. WT flippin F. So if your hiring and you can work around my schedule cause I need the June 28 off... Please let me know.
.....x

hmmm...x

Interesting... As summer approaches, slowly, but surly, and my hair gets longer, I find myself liking these two kinds of products more and more. I don't know what it is about these hats that just makes me want to wear one everyday. Along with these glasses, you just feel so rad. Honestly... Those glasses make anyone feel like a rockstar and those hats, well, they make you feel important, or the fact that everyone just wants to look at you cause of your hat. I dunno. Sometimes I feel like Cisco Radler (Adler) and like I actually am from the 'bu, Malibu that is, but just when I'm rockin these two things and the weather is nice. But just don't hate on me right now and maybe one day you too will like them as much as I have grown to over the past couple of weeks as the weather has been getting warmer and warmer. Why-ee-ess. [yes]

fresh advice from sarah.

This is all so funny and so true. Straight from Sarah Morrison herself.

-”LA will never make you famous”-No one cares how many times your picture has been on the Cobrasnake. There is no section for that on a resume. Unless, you are a DJ or aspiring CW star leave LA now.

-”Once you have lived in LA you will never live anywhere normal again”-Try moving to Philadelphia. Seriously try it. You will want to die.

-”Do nothing for free”-If people “need” you to do things, they are things that make them money. They are asking you to do these things so they make MORE money. They are asking you to do things for free because they are cheap and are using you. Oh and by the way “Intern” is just another word for slave.

I officially just gave up my current dream of being an LA hipster. oh well I'll cut my losses now.

Malibu on Fire

Wildfires broke out in Malibu, California, again over the weekend, and among those impacted were Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who lost a home due to the flames, and Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose, who had a close call when the fires burned his roof and singed some of his property. According to a report on KCAL-TV, Rose's assistant said the rocker "was with the hose everywhere" on his property, fighting to save his home. The Los Angeles Times reports that Flea said in a text message that his $4.8 million home in Corral Canyon was "burnt to a crisp" by the fires on Saturday morning. According to TMZ.com, a second, $10 million Malibu home owned by Flea — the one in which he currently resides — did not burn. The one that did was a $4.8 million house that the bassist rents and currently has up for sale, the site reports. ...

I'm not the biggest Guns\Roses fan but honestly it still sucks for my man Flea and the fact that the promised land (California) is slowly going away before I even get a chance to move there and fill my life with sunshine sucks. And in other celebrity news that is just plain stupid and yet somewhat interesting after watching Hogan Knows Best:

Hulk Hogan said he was totally unaware that his wife of 24 years, Linda Marie Bollea, had recently filed for divorce when asked to comment on Friday by the St. Petersburg Times. According to the paper, Linda filed a petition for the dissolution of their marriage last Tuesday, unbeknownst to her husband. After learning of the development, the wrestler then reportedly thanked the reporter for the "great information" and hung up, calling back five minutes later to say he'd been "kind of shocked" by the news. "You caught me off guard. My wife has been in California for about three weeks," Hogan reportedly said. "Holy smokes. Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me. I just pulled over to the side of the road for five minutes to find out what was going on here." According to The Associated Press, Linda Bollea requested alimony and child support for their 17-year-old son, Nick Bollea, as well as a share of the family's two multimillion-dollar properties in Florida, in her divorce petition, which calls the marriage "irretrievably broken." The couple married in 1983 and have two children, 19-year-old singer Brooke Hogan and Nick, who was involved in an August car crash that left a passenger critically injured. ...
